Our History - SURA Asset Management

SURA Asset MANAGEMENT was established in 2011 as an affiliate of Grupo SURA, and as part of the acquisition of the assets owned by ING, in the Pensions, Life Insurance, and Investment Funds business in Chile, Colombia, México, Perú and Uruguay. The acquisition was completed on December 29, 2011. But this story goes back to the early 1980’s when Chile implemented the individual annuities system with the establishment of Sociedad Administradora de Fondos de Pensiones Santa María S.A., currently AFP Capital. Several important milestones took place during the years that followed, which led to the international operation that is now SURA Asset Management, which is present in Chile, Colombia, México, Perú, and Uruguay.

        2019SURA Asset Management, sus filiales en administración de fondos previsionales y SURA Investment Management, se hacen signatarias del PRI como compromiso con la Inversión Sostenible. 

        2018 Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) becomes a new shareholder.

        2017 

 USD 350 million bond issue.
 Sale of the lifetime annuity business in Chile.
 
 México – Sale of SURA’s insurance company in SURA Perú and México.

        2016México – Distribution agreement with BlackRock.
 
 México Incorporation of SURA Real Estate.
 
  Distribution agreement with BlackRock. 
 
International issue of USD 350 million in 10-year bonds. 8.0 times excess demand.

        2015 México – Incorporation of the stock brokerage firm "Sociedad Agente de Bolsa SURA".
  Launch of the USD 400 MM infrastructure fund.

 Distribution agreement with Franklin Templeton.
 
        2014  Implementation of the securities brokerage firm "Agente de Valores SURA".
 Distribution of insurance policies through our insurance brokerage agency [corredora de seguros Uruguay].
 
        2013   Acquisition of Primero Seguros de Vida.
SURA  AM – International issue of USD 500 MM in 10-year bonds, with a price 4.930% and a 4.875% coupon. 8.0 times excess demand.

        2012 México – Acquisition of 50% BBVA AFP Horizonte Perú.

  Incorporation of SURA stock brokerage firm.

 México – Relaunch of the lifetime annuities business.

  Distribution agreement with BlackRock.

        2011 
 Incorporation of AFISA SURA.

  Merger of Protección and ING Colombia.

 México – Acquisition of 63% of Seguros SURA (previously Invita) and Hipotecaria SURA.
Grupo SURA – Acquisition of ING Latam.
SURA AM - start of  SURA AM.
