The global economy faces a deep recession as a result of the relentless impact of COVID-19. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the global economic downturn will be 4.4% by 2020, the worst since World War II. Governments' response to saving lives and reviving the economy reaches historic levels: $12 trillion in tax aid and about 8 trillion in monetary policy. In the midst of this context, former Finance Minister Mauricio Cardenas, and President of Protección, Juan David Correa, open the 2020 Security Investment Summit at 8:30 a.m. today.
The first panel of the event will feature Cardenas and Correa, who will address topics relevant to the ¡pandemic, the U.S. elections, opportunities for 2021 and 2022, and an in-depth analysis of Colombia's economy. The Sustainability and Portfolio Management panels will follow, with topics in which Protección has been a leader in Colombia, based on the premise that the environmental, social, and good corporate governance (ASG) aspects of each investment are enablers, and as important as financial performance. These panels will be joined by specialists Juan Sebastián Maya, folios Director for Protección; Cristóbal Doberti, Regional Manager of Savings and Investment Strategies at SURA Asset Management; Susana Peñarrubia, Active Senior Portfolio Manager Equities European ESG of DWS and Mauricio Rodríguez, Savings and Investments Leader at Protección.
