3 Key Aspects for Choosing Your Afore

3 Key Aspects for Choosing Your Afore

According to CONSAR, the Retirement Savings System (SAR) has over 18 million unregistered accounts assigned to an Afore. If you are one of these workers who do not know where your Afore is or if you have thought about changing administrators but have not yet decided on one, Afore SURA shares with you some of the most important aspects to consider when choosing:

1. Trajectory

We recommend researching the trajectory of each Afore in the country so you can choose the one that best suits you. In Mexico, the organization responsible for supervising and evaluating the quality of the work of these financial institutions is the National Commission for the Retirement Savings System (CONSAR), which examines key points in the Afores every year, such as operational quality, voluntary and solidarity savings made by clients, coverage, and the number of procedures resolved by the institution.

2. Yields

It is very important that your Afore seeks to provide the best possible yields consistently through a good investment portfolio. CONSAR publishes the yields of the SIEFORES (Specialized Investment Companies in Retirement Funds) every month; however, there are other indicators worth considering when researching, including Morningstar's recognitions, a leading provider of independent analysis and opinion services that rates Mexican SIEFORES with an evaluation of basic pillars for the performance of an investment fund.

3. Proximity and Contact Points

Close attention through digital and traditional channels is another of the most relevant aspects when choosing an Afore, as this institution will be responsible not only for safeguarding your financial resources but also for advising you, answering your questions, and supporting you with various procedures throughout your life.

In this sense, Afore SURA, committed to being closer to its clients in Mexico, opened 9 service modules this year in the cities of Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, Delicias, Córdoba, Cuautla, Piedras Negras, Guaymas, Ciudad Victoria, and Tula; with these new contact points, it reaches a total of 68 branches in Mexico. In addition to this, the company promotes retirement savings culture with clients and prospects, through its continuous participation in events such as the Afores Fair 2023, which in its November edition for two days tended to 502 procedures for 272 clients.

"At Afore SURA, we work every day to demonstrate our commitment to offering the best service and helping our clients achieve dreams and financial goals. While we have developed digital tools that allow for easy and fast procedures, we are also aware of the need to be there physically for people, for them to get to know us. Hence the importance of opening more and more service modules in strategic locations and continuing to participate in spaces of cooperation and support," said Gerardo Chavarría, Business Initiatives and Commercial Advisory Manager at Afore SURA.

At Afore SURA, we want to help people obtain a better pension at the time of their retirement and act from today to achieve it, through comprehensive advice and various savings and investment solutions. We hope these tips help you make better decisions and thus take better care of your future.
